Salute and Farewell to Colonel Joe Jackson

Bust of Col Joe Jackson as seen at A/TA Walk of Fame at Scott AFB

It is with great sadness we salute and say farewell to a true American Hero.  Medal of Honor Recipient, Col Joe Jackson passed away on 13 January 2019. He has been an incredible friend and part of the Airlift/Tanker Association for many years.

Col Jackson was inducted into the A/TA Hall of Fame in 1997 for his actions in 1968.  Col Jackson was a C-123 Provider pilot during Vietnam and risked his life rescuing a three-man United States Air Force Combat Control Team from the camp at Kham Duc. He graciously and humbly shared the heroic story over the years at the annual Airlift/Tanker
Association annual convention. See Col Jackson’s Hall of Fame information here.

Our prayers are with his family during this difficult time.  He epitomized the legacy that is ours as Mobility Airmen and we remain proud to share his story.  You will be missed Col Jackson!
